“THE SKY IS BIGGER than we will ever be.”
This collection of oil paintings began in 2021 and completed in 2024. The series is influenced by my upbringing in rural Nebraska. Growing up somewhere so isolated, I felt as though I would never “escape”. Throughout my life, I watched drug addiction and alcoholism overtake the lives of my loved ones, with limited mental health, rehabilitation, and withdrawal options available. The same sky, the same buildings, the same ideas, day in, day out. This series reflects the claustrophobic feelings I felt growing up in rural Nebraska.
